A new wave of workplace departures is brewing, with PwC's Global Workforce Survey recently revealing 28% of workers are planning job changes - significantly higher than during 2022's Great Resignation (19%).

The key drivers behind this trend include:

  • Significantly increased workloads over the past year
  • Growing concerns about pay amid cost-of-living pressures
  • Rapid workplace changes, particularly around new technology adoption
  • Career development ambitions
  • Rising stress levels and workplace pressures

This pattern isn't just limited to one region; it's particularly noticeable across Europe, including the UK, France and Germany. While AI and other emerging technologies offer potential benefits, many workers feel overwhelmed by the pace of change.

PwC suggests organisations can address these challenges by prioritising employee wellbeing, creating stronger learning cultures, and providing better guidance around skills development.
