To be honest, this book was an accidental find. Cat picked it up in a moment of despondency over the trials and tribulations of parenting teenagers.  

It turns out that How to Raise an Adult is, in part, a detailed analysis of how the super-pressurised US education system has contributed both to the perceived lack of resilience and the increasingly demanding behaviours of Gen Y in the workplace. When put together, the causal factors for the generational changes in attitudes towards work are illuminating, not least since the tertiary education system here in the UK seems to be assuming very similar characteristics.  

This is an essential read for anyone looking to hire, engage and develop younger workers, as this enhanced understanding of the socio-cultural backdrop allows us to build empathy and rapport.
