We believe business has a proactive role to play in underpinning a healthy, inclusive and regenerative society. It’s our view that a core responsibility of any leader in business today is to do good by doing better.

Working the Future is fully committed to treating all partners within its supply chain system with dignity and respect. Trusted partnerships and collaborations are important to us – we know that trust and mutual positive regard lie at the heart of successful commercial relationships and thriving business communities.

We also recognise the pivotal importance of access to good work in leading a healthy life.

While of course our business needs to be profitable, we are proactively invested in providing opportunity to others wherever and whenever we can.

We gladly support charities, social enterprises and not-for-profits that align with our personal backstories, and we contribute both financial resources and expertise whenever we can.

Below are some ventures we’re currently supporting:

We have huge societal and environmental challenges ahead of us. The latter has prompted us to start a sustainability diary, to share our experiences.

Social inequality is the worst it’s ever been. In parallel, the escalating climate crisis and ongoing degradation of our natural world is endangering life on earth.

We don’t profess to have the answers to these problems, but we do know it’s completely irresponsible of the corporate world to suggest that these are problems to be solved at an individual level. It’s no longer feasible to prioritise profit maximisation above anything else.

1% FOR THE PLANET

As part of our ongoing efforts to contribute positively to the wider business ecosystem, we recently joined the non-profit organisation, 1% for the Planet

Its global network consists of thousands of businesses and environmental partners working toward a better future.

We feel that in the mid 2020s, organisations can no longer ignore the climate emergency, and they have a responsibility to do ‘good by doing better’ for a more sustainable world.

So that means we're donating 1% of our annual turnover moving forward to support its environmental causes.

BETTER BUSINESS ACT

We joined the Better Business Act coalition because we believe the world needs every business at its best - creating good jobs, helping to fix pressing problems and adding value to society.

Working the Future has joined 1000+ businesses calling for a straightforward legislative solution: the Better Business Act will amend section 172 of The Companies Act to ensure that company directors are responsible for advancing the interests of shareholders alongside those of wider society and the environment.

The Future of Work | Working the Future

We're encouraged by the fact that the Better Business Act is a business-led campaign, driven by leaders who recognise that the law has fallen behind business culture and who have proven that this approach to business works for everyone.

We believe that the Better Business Act is a unique opportunity to demonstrate UK leadership on the global stage – creating a competitive advantage, driving innovation, accelerating progress to net zero, and aligning with the government’s ambition to build back better.

THE CARBON ALMANAC

The Carbon Almanac is a crowd-authored book of facts about climate change.

It contains tables, illustrations, infographics, maps, definitions, quotations and resources.

It’s been created by an all-volunteer global collective of writers, illustrators, educators, entrepreneurs, scientists, and marketeers, who are all passionate about doing what needs to be done to slow climate change.

The Future of Work | Working the Future

The Carbon Almanac Network consists of +1500 contributors who are all passionate about doing what needs to be done to slow climate change.  We are building a network of networks to create a systemic conversation, and action, to take responsibility for environmental degradation.

Since early 2022, Working the Future has supported The Carbon Almanac by raising support for the venture within the UK and EU markets. It has introduced the book as an essential resource that enables overwhelmed organisations and citizens feel informed enough to take meaningful group action.

UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

We support the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In particular, we believe in the right of all humans to be able to access good work where all contributions are treated fairly, inclusively, humanely and without discrimination.

We also believe that all humans should be able to access work environments that allow them to both flourish and achieve their full potential. This underpins all our working relationships and interactions.
